Frequently Asked Questions
Ordering beef
How does ordering a beef share (1/8 to a whole cow) work?
Order your share through the online store and a deposit reserves it — $100 for an 1/8 or 1/4, $200 for a half, $400 for a whole. Each share is a set price and includes a set mix of cuts (listed right on each share’s page). We’ll get in touch to arrange timing, and you pick up your beef frozen, packaged, and labeled. The balance is paid at pickup.
How much freezer space do I need?
A good rule of thumb is one cubic foot of freezer space per 35–40 pounds of packaged beef. Roughly: an 1/8 share fits in most standing freezers’ spare space (~2 cu ft), a 1/4 wants about 4 cu ft, a 1/2 about 8 cu ft, and a whole cow calls for a dedicated chest freezer (14+ cu ft).
What cuts come in a beef share?
It’s spelled out on each share’s page. For example, a 1/4 cow includes 5 ribeyes, 6 NY strips, 4 filet mignon, 6 sirloins, 2 flank steaks, 3 chuck roasts, 3 rump roasts, 2 quarter briskets, 8 cube steaks, 8 packs of stew beef, and about 60 pounds of ground beef.
How do pickup and payment work?
Orders are picked up at the farm in Snow Hill — we’ll confirm a time with you by email after you order. Payment is taken at pickup, cash or card.

Our beef & our farm
What does “grass-fed, grain-finished” mean?
Our cattle spend their lives on pasture eating grass, and in the final stretch their diet is supplemented with grain. This gives the beef the marbling and flavor most families love, while the animals still live on grass their whole lives. No added hormones, ever.
Who takes care of the animals?
We do — and it helps that Randy is a practicing large-animal veterinarian. The herd is managed with a full vaccination program, forage analysis so rations match what our pastures actually provide, and rotational grazing that keeps both the cattle and the land healthy. We’re BQA certified and a Got To Be NC member.
Can we visit the farm?
We’d love to have you — visits just need to be scheduled ahead of time. Drop us a note and we’ll set something up.
